The Corporate Accounting Manager will oversee general accounting operations, manage accounting staff, ensure compliance with GAAP, and support the preparation of financial statements.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Review and approve account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
- Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements and variance reports
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to support team performance and professional growth
- Partner with FP&A, tax, payroll, treasury, and operational teams on financial reporting and business initiatives
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased efficiency within accounting operations
- Support ERP system implementations, upgrades, and process optimization projects
- Assist with technical accounting research and preparation of accounting memos as needed
- Assist Corporate Controller with research and resolution of questions
- Complete other ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required or relevant experience
- 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or management experience
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced knowledge of Excel with the ability to work with a large volume of data in spreadsheets, with knowledge of formulas and advanced functions, like pivot tables is required
- Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports
- High attention to detail with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Desire to work in a cooperative, productive, team-driven atmosphere and an ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- CPA certification preferred
- Commercial Real Estate or other service industry experience is preferred
- Experience leading a team is strongly preferred
- Experience with ERP systems such as Yardi and Workday is a plus
